Terms & Conditions of Boarding at Kitty Kaya

1.                 This agreement is for the full period that the cat/s are boarding at Kitty Kaya and shall apply to any future visits to Kitty Kaya.

2.     FEES

2.1.   The cost of accommodation will be at the rate set out on the invoice.

2.2   Fees are payable strictly in advance before or on admission of the cat/s.

2.3    If boarding is for more than one-month, payments may be payable monthly in advance at the agreed rate.

2.4   Booking deposits for the Christmas period will be refunded minus a 20% cancellation fee providing that they are cancelled via email before 31 October and minus 50% of the deposit if cancelled before 30 November.  Thereafter the deposit shall be forfeit to Kitty Kaya

2.5   No refunds will be given for collection earlier than the reserved check out date.   

3.               BREACH: In the event of boarding charges or any other amounts not being paid on due date, or the owner in any way breaches the terms of this agreement:

3.1       The full amount then outstanding shall immediately become due and payable.

3.2.     The owner shall be liable for interest on all overdue amounts.

3.3.     The owner of the cat/s shall be liable for all legal costs incurred by the proprietor regarding steps taken to recover unpaid costs.

3.4.     Should boarding fees not be paid in accordance with this agreement and/or the cat/s is/are left at Kitty Kaya, the proprietor is hereby authorized by the owner of the cat/s to dispose of the cat/s by re-homing, or placing the cat/s in a shelter, at the sole discretion of the proprietor.  

4           INDEMNITY: Every care and precaution is taken to ensure the well-being and comfort of cats boarding at Kitty Kaya. The owner acknowledges and confirms that no liability, course of action or claim of any nature shall lie against the proprietor in respect of any loss, illness, or damage to the cat/s themselves, collars, blankets, containers, or any personal items. 

5.                     FEEDING:  Cats will be offered a mixture of Royal Canin, Hills and Iams senior and adult dry foods. Should the owner require the cat to be fed any other dry food, this must be labelled and supplied by the owner. Owners are required to supply their own labelled wet food tins, sachets, frozen foods, and treats.

Should the cat refuse to eat, and all attempts to coax the cat to eat fail, including offering novel foods and treats, after 24 to 36 hours, at her discretion, the proprietor will attempt to syringe feed the cat with Hills Urgent Care and/or Royal Canin Recovery veterinary diets and/or will seek veterinary intervention as a cat’s health deteriorates quickly after 48 hours with no nutrition.       

6.      MEDICATION: If the cat/s is/are on veterinary prescribed medication required to be administered to the cat by the proprietor   on the owner’s behalf, the owner is required to provide written instructions detailing the name/s of the medication, the dosage and frequency with which the medication must be administered and to provide the prescribed medication with dosage instructions on the medication packaging or containers as provided by the veterinary practitioner.                                           

 7.     VETERINARY SERVICES Should the proprietor deems it necessary to utilize veterinary services for the cat’s well being, the proprietor will attempt to contact the owner before engaging the services of a veterinary practitioner. Should it prove not possible to contact the owner and in the case of an emergency, the proprietor is authorized at her discretion to utilize veterinary services and to administer treatment to the cat as prescribed by the veterinary practitioner.  All veterinary charges thus incurred, and the costs of prescribed medication shall be for the account of the cat/s owner.                                                                                                   

.        The owner accepts that should the cat/s become ill whilst accommodated at Kitty Kaya and/or require additional care or medication prescribed by a veterinary practitioner,  special feeding, injecting in the case of diabetics, medicating with veterinary practitioner prescribed medication or hand feeding, the boarding rates will convert to the high care rate per day per cat plus the extra costs incurred for consumables.                                                                                                                                                    

8     CHRONIC AND SEVERE ACUTE ILLNESS. (Delete if not applicable)

        Given the age of your cat and/or the fact that the cat is suffering from …………………………………………………………………….,  when admitted to Kitty Kaya, and /or should your cat become acutely ill and deemed to be suffering, you hereby grant the attending veterinary practitioner full discretionary power to make whatever decision is deemed to be in the best interests of the cat’s wellbeing and to prevent unnecessary suffering.   This includes possible decisions about the pain management, ongoing treatment, preservation of life, referral to a specialist or euthanasia of the cat. Every attempt will be made to contact the owner before making any decision.  Please note that the above is in compliance with the Animals Protection Act 962 (Act No. 71 of 1962).                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        

9.      IMMUNIZATION: The owner warrants that the cat/s have been immunized / vaccinated with the 3 in 1 and rabies vaccines  within the last 24 months prior to admission to Kitty Kaya if older than 3 years,  and /or within the last 12 months prior to admission to Kitty Kaya if 3 years or younger. 

10     NEUTERING: The owner warrants that the cat/s have been neutered unless the cat/s are kittens of no more than six (6) months of age. Should an unspayed young female cat come into oestrus and start caterwauling loudly and incessantly whilst in boarding, it will be taken to local veterinary hospital where it will be housed until collected by the owner and all costs incurred in this regard will be for the owner’s account.

12.   The owner warrants that the information set out in this Agreement and on the Admission Forms is true and correct. Please ensure that you disclose all medical information and behavioural and/or personality traits regarding the cat/s The owner warrants that no information regarding the health or behaviour of the cat/s which would affect the nature of the care given to the cat has been withheld.                                                                                                                                                                                  

13.   The owner acknowledges that the boarding of the cat/s is subject to the terms and conditions set out above and the information on the Admission Form and Pre Admission Interview Form. The owner acknowledges and confirms that he/she accepts the conditions of accommodation and services by the proprietor.
